The Bethel Area
Year round, the Bethel community offers charming pubs, a variety of restaurants, musical venues, and many unique and creative shopping experiences. You can see a first run movie... or simply relax, rest and read to your heart's content. Fishing, bird-watching and wildlife viewing are all part of the Bethel experience. Area artisans' wares, artists' galleries, as well as antiques and collectibles, can be found in local shops.
In Spring, Summer and Fall there are many enjoyable activities in and around Bethel. Enjoy scenic hiking trails, golfing, kayaking and canoeing, mountain biking, swimming, picnics, spa services, shopping, crafters, wall-climbing, water park and community concerts, fairs and performances. Guided white-water trips or moose watching outings are popular activities for all ages. The Bethel community sponsors seasonal fairs, theatrical and music productions, outdoor weekend events and family activities.
NTL–the National Training Laboratory holds sessions in the summer, as does Outward Bound. Bethel is also home to the Gould Academy.
In the winter, we are within minutes of Sunday River and Mt Abrams Ski Centers and in walking distance to village restaurants, businesses, shops and the cinema. There are X-country skiing venues, snowmobiling trails and dog sledding trips.
